Danza de Cota, under the direction of Kathy Cota
Since 1924 when Kathy's father, Juan Cota, participated in the first Fiesta of Santa Barbara, there has been a Cota dancing in every Old Spanish Days Fiesta! Kathy is proud to continue the tradition of participating in Old Spanish Days, as well as upholding the time honored family tradition of teaching her own cousins, nieces, children, grandchildren and NOW her great-grandchildren the art of Classical Spanish dance, Flamenco, traditional folklorico and old time Californio dances.

Danza de Cota has not only participated in many local Santa Barbara events, but has also had an advanced group that traveled to many other venues to perform under the direction of Maestro Roberto Amaral. This created a wonderful atmosphere of shared knowledge, techniques and styles that allows the studio to create a very diversified learning atmosphere. At Danza de Cota, you will learn the technique to support a solid dance foundation, as well as, be a part of a loving and proud dance family.
